Super Spread Ideas for Super Bowl Cannabis & Food Pairings

Updated: Aug 7

The championship game is this week! And whether you are cheering for the Bengals, the Rams, or are just around for the commercials–I think we can all agree that there is one thing everyone loves about the big game: the food!

What's on the menu?

You can probably find innumerable blog posts about food to eat for the championship game. But, we would like to believe you have not seen many about food to pair with some of your favorite cannabis products! That’s right ladies and gentleman: we now present you with the Super Spreads for the Big Game.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Let’s start with an appetizer. You will love this warm, cheesy dip with the perfect amount of spice. This crockpot buffalo chicken dip recipe can be prepared ahead of time to be ready for dipping right at kick off. The prep time and ingredients are minimal, but the flavor is maximum.

Tip: We like to take some of the bread and toast it with olive oil and herbs (the sliders recipe usually has some left over mixture). This dip also goes well with On the Border tortilla chips or any other crackers!

Here’s what you'll need:

  1. (2) 10 oz cans chicken breast, drained

  2. (2) 8 oz packages cream cheese softened

  3. 1 cup ranch dressing

  4. 3/4 cup Franks Red Hot buffalo sauce

  5. 1 & 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese

Here’s how to make it:

  1. Heat chicken and hot sauce in a skillet until heated through.

  2. Stir in cream cheese and ranch dressing.

  3. Cook, stirring until well blended and warm.

  4. Mix in half of the shredded cheese and transfer to Crockpot.

    1. If you're not preparing ahead of time, you can serve hot as is.

  5. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top and cook on low until hot and bubbly.

Cannabis & Food Pairings for the Big Game

Depending on your preferred method of consumption, we wanted to recommend a couple edibles and flower options for your day! These are our personal recommendations, but we're sure that everyone has their flavors they prefer! Please note, that cannabis products should only be consumed by adults who are 21+. Cannabis items should not be consumed by minors.

Tip: We like to begin with an edible when we to cook! This way, the food is close to completion by the time the cannabis starts to peek through. The pre-rolls are great for a quick step outside during halftime with some friends.

Edibles:

  1. WYLD Edibles - 10mg each - Strawberry & Pear

  2. MKX Bites - 25mg each - Green Apple & Grape

Pre-Rolls:

  1. High Life Farms - Sundae Driver - 12.7% THC - Indica

  2. Common Citizen - J1 - 17.11% THC - Sativa

The edibles from WYLD are some of our favorites. We feel they have the cleanest up and down throughout the entire experience. If you're going to go for the MKX bites, know that they're an experience because the dose is 25mg each!

Here's some info on the WYLD edibles:

The Pear gummies contain CBG in combination with THC, alongside the terpenes found in Hybrid strains may provide greater rejuvenation than THC alone. This combination may be particularly useful when looking for balance. The Strawberry gummies are made with real fruit, a Hybrid terpene blend, and enhanced with cannabis-derived CBD oil. Perfect for relaxing your body while keeping your mind sharp and alert. They are the go-to gummy if you are looking to decompress or take the edge off.

Here's some info on the MKX Bites:

The MKX edibles are perfectly infused with the very finest MKX Oil and only highest of quality products! At MKX Oil Co we strongly believe our patients deserve only the best! Patients over profits! Our edible gummies are particularly popular & low key way to enjoy without being noticeable.

J1 from Common Citizen

We're partial to sativa based strains and really enjoy J1 from Common Citizen. If you're looking for more of a "I want to watch the funny commercials while I'm horizontal on the couch," then we'd recommend an indica based strain and High-Life Farms has some good options.

Here's some info on the J1 pre-roll:

This high-end hybrid, part of the Time to Shine range, is a cross of two famous sativas, Skunk #1 and Jack Herer. It is gaining widespread popularity for delivering a clear-headed buzz that allows for mobility.

Here's some info on the Sundae Driver:

This strain is a mix between Grape Pie x Fruity Pebbles OG. Their signature strain hunted and selected by High Life Farms. A work of art. Bred by Cannarado Genetics. This strain stings the nostrils with acidic grape aromas while providing a heavy high that slows you down well below the speed limit.

Hot Ham & Cheese Sliders

A main dish that you can make in 30 minutes! We love these little handheld treats that are great for sharing. These easy hot ham and cheese sliders are a great take along if you're watching at a friends house! The prep time is about 5 minutes, the cook time is 25 minutes.

Tip: Feel free to use any type of cheese and meat you want! We've done with Turkey and Havarti cheese and they're just as good! We also like to use a little extra cheese in our layering process; make it like you want!

Here’s what you'll need:

  1. 4 tablespoons Salted or Unsalted Butter, melted

  2. 1 tablespoons Dijon mustard

  3. 1 tablespoon honey

  4. 1 tablespoon dried parsley

  5. â…› teaspoon onion powder

  6. â…› teaspoon garlic powder

  7. 1 package sweet Hawaiian rolls

  8. ½ pound thinly sliced cooked deli honey ham

  9. ½ pound thinly sliced Swiss cheese

Here’s how to make it:

  1. Spray an 11-inch x 7-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

  2. In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter, mustard, honey, dried parsley, onion powder and garlic powder.

  3. Do not pull the rolls apart, simply use a large serrated knife to slice the rolls in half as you would slice a bagel, separating the tops from the bottoms. Place the layer of bottoms into the prepared baking pan, cut side up.

  4. Layer half of the ham onto the rolls. Next, layer the Swiss cheese over the ham, and top with remaining ham slices. Place the layer of tops onto the sandwiches.

  5. Brush all of the butter mixture evenly over the rolls. At this point you can cover and refrigerate for up to 4 hours, or bake immediately.

  6. When you’re ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. If your pan isn’t covered with foil, go ahead and cover it now.

  7. Bake covered sliders in the preheated oven for 12 minutes. Remove the foil from the baking pan, return the sliders to the oven and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes.

Save room for Dessert!

After all the delicious dips, sandwiches, beverages, and cannabis, we hope you saved room for dessert! We wanted to keep it simple, so we figured some chocolate doughnuts were the way to go. These little frosted angels will be the perfect wrap to a hopefully entertaining game!
